Yesterday, I mentioned I had given the David Kirsch supplements a try. And my verdict is, while you'd have to be Heidi Klum to afford to keep up with them, some are pretty darn good.

First, anyone can afford the b12 spray, which helped me stay awake long enough to make it out on the town for a late night. Another fave was the super juice, which goes beyond other fizzy packets (like Emergin'C) to also include spirulina, algae, aloe vera, and live enzymes. And yes, it does actually taste ok.

I had to remind myself that swigging back some extra vitamins was not going to make me magically lose 10 pounds. But I did notice some extra energy, and after finishing my mid-morning super juice, I only ended up eating half my lunch sandwich most days.

In fact, today I may not even eat a brownie.

You know how you see celebrities on TV working out with their trainers, and the moves they're doing look nothing like what you do? Want to know the moves they do? They're all here.

Seriously, David Kirsch is awesome. And he's Heidi Klum's personal trainer. Do I really need to say any more?

I first became obsessed with his book when an editor left it behind on her desk. I flipped through the pages and actually felt a desire to go to the gym and try it out. And the best part is, you don't even need a gym. With a few props (light dumbbells, a medicine ball, and a pilates ball) you can get an entire workout done in your bedroom. So the Kirsch moves have now become my at-home "Plan B" when going to the gym fails.

However, my nutrition is still suspect. Kirsch recommends a very strict diet of only the really really good stuff (lean proteins, veggies, not much else). I definitely eat healthy, but only to counteract my daily brownie. And I'm not cutting that brownie out. Not even for David. Not even for my smug triathlete boyfriend, who tries to make a citizen's arrest every time I eat one.

So I figured I'd give Kirsch's dietary supplements a try. Hey, if they could give me energy and limit my appetite, I'd be willing to exist on egg whites and veggies for a few days.

Want to know if his pills and shakes are all they're cracked up to be? Check back tomorrow to see how it went.

The variety of scents emitted by the patch "encourage sexual thoughts and feelings," so users are instructed to sniff the patch throughout the day. It costs $34.95 for a one-month supply, which is $34.95 more than it would cost to simply stare at a picture of Smith Jarrett all day. But, of course, not all of us can plaster our cubicles with his torso, so maybe the patch would be better.

The reason for my special needs shoes is this: I hate running. Not a fan! But my boyfriend runs triathlons twice a year, so I try to do a few loops around the park with him here and there. And when I attempted this in my old running shoes, things didn't go so well.

Then, Sharon Barbano of Saucony came to our office to meet with the health editors. She took one look at my feet and yelled, "Overpronator!" Apparently, when your arches are flat, your feet hit the ground and roll inward, causing extra stress and torquing your knees unnecessarily. So I switched to a motion control shoe, and it's a whole different story. I keep my Saucony Grid Stabil's at my place, and my New Balance 817's at my boyfriend's.

Now, that's not to say I'm running 5 miles effortlessly. It's more like 2, and with a few breaks and/or fights in between. But having the right shoes makes a HUGE difference.

My dad used to send me my favorite truffles every year on <a href="http://love.ivillage.com/0,,78ppt603,00.html"target="new">Valentine's Day. Then once I went away to college, he stopped. Finally, after much hinting, I received a box. A very small box. And a warning: These go straight to the thighs. Awesome!

You can't expect men to understand chocolate. Especially men who are bitter and on Atkins. Look, I have a biological need for it. I must eat it. And it's Valentine's Day for Pete's sake! END OF DISCUSSION.

So anyway, since V-day is coming up again, I thought I'd entertain the idea of calories (what are those?) and fat (what's that?) being something to keep an eye on this year. After all, I'm older, no longer much of an athlete, and would prefer not to get diabetes. So I wonder...just how unhealthy is a piece of chocolate, anyway?

Brace yourselves…

According to <a href="http://www.godiva.com/welcome.aspx"target="new">Godiva, the appropriate serving size of their dark chocolate truffles is 2 pieces. Um, ok. So if you eat two <a href="http://www.godiva.com/catalog/product.aspx?id=1684&SE_Section=Shop&SE_Category=90"target="new">dark chocolate truffles, you'll set yourself back 210 calories and 14 grams of fat (9 of them saturated). But the good news is, none of it appears to be trans fat, as I don't see any hydrogenated oil in the ingredients. As Borat would say, Niiiiiiiiice.

And here's more. You can get away with three of Godiva's midnight swirl dark chocolates for about the same consequences (220 calories, 15 grams of fat). Plus, there's also a limited edition <a href="http://www.godiva.com/catalog/collections.aspx?id=117&wt.ad=AM_Mousse"target="new">chocolate mousse set to further tantalize you away from your diet.

"There is a study that found that men having three or four orgasms a week halved the risk of having a major heart attack or stroke. The benefits were attributed to the fact that sexual activity, that involves mild to moderate physical activity, are likely to have some cardiovascular protective effect.

These results were published several years ago by the University of Bristol researchers that involved 2.400 men who were tracked 10 years later to see how many had suffered serious strokes and heart attacks. It was called the Caerphilly study and it was presented at the World Stroke Congress in Melbourne."

And I'm not surprised. Sometimes going without sex for a while can make you feel like having a heart attack. But seriously—if I've ever heard a good reason to hit the sheets on a regular basis, this is it.

When you think about it, it makes sense. If you come to work after a bad breakup, chances are you're in a foul mood from not eating, you're gonna take bathroom cry-breaks at least twice a day, and you're going to be spending more time reading old emails from your ex (or plotting revenge) than you are actually working. Besides, we all know a fair amount of sick days are really "heartbreak leave" in disguise.

And if that wasn't enough to make you think CEO Miki Hiradate is totally boss, apparently she also gives staff paid time off to go shopping during sale season!

Miki, you're so fine you blow my mind.

Ever cried at work over a breakup? (Over a third of respondents <a href="http://lowcarblove.ivillage.com/love/2008/01/winter_the_new_breakup_season.php"target="new">in a recent survey have). New studies have shown serious evidence that releasing your anger in a fight <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20080123/sc_livescience/spouseswhofightlivelonger"target="new">can help you live longer. On the flip side, stifling your feelings and giving your guy the silent treatment can actually <a href="http://lowcarblove.ivillage.com/love/2007/10/tell_him_what_you_want_what_yo.php"target="new">bring about an earlier death!

<a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20080123/sc_livescience/spouseswhofightlivelonger"target="new">The most recent study surveyed 192 married couples, ages 35-69, over 17 years. Of the couples who suppressed their anger in fights, 23% were dead by the end of the study. However, of the rest of the couples
(all of which had at least one partner who expressed anger in a fight), only 6% died during the study.

Balthazar made the nominees, and though I've actually never been, I'd say that any guy who takes you to Balthazar for brunch deserves a second date. Friend of a Farmer (one of my faves) makes an appearance. But it's not exactly a sexy spot—it's decorated like someone's grandma's cottage in Vermont. Charming, but not the place to go when you're still wearing half of last night's outfit.

After you spend the night for the first time, is brunch the "polite" thing to do? Are you offended if a guy doesn't ask you to stay?

Over half the respondents of the Yahoo! survey said they reassess their relationship in the time between the start of winter and Valentine's Day. 84% of respondents said they don't feel pressure to have a partner for the holidays or even Valentine's Day. So if things aren't going well, they're not afraid to go solo this winter. Looks like breaking up is no longer hard to do.

Here are a few interesting findings from the survey:
-Monday was voted the best day to break up with someone by survey participants.
-Want to tell if your boyfriend or girlfriend is about to break up with you? 43% of survey participants said they avoid the other person right before a breakup, and 42% said they spend some <a href="http://lowcarblove.ivillage.com/love/2007/10/how_to_pick_up_guys_at_the_gym_1.php#comments"target="new">quality time at the gym.
-Over a third of respondents have cried at work over a breakup.
-Over 50% of the newly dumped seek chocolate and/or ice cream to feel better. (DUH)

My boyfriend thinks Jennifer Aniston is a fox. So when I saw this question about her in a recent survey, I was curious. According to Woman's Day and AOL Body, when asked:

"If you could choose, would you rather have Jennifer Aniston's physique or be a millionaire?"

78% of women surveyed said SHOW ME THE MONEY!

I'm guessing they figured with a million bucks they could pay to get whipped into shape. It's nice to know that most women are happy enough with their own bodies that they'd rather look their best and not someone else's. But what about men? Would their response be any different? I flipped the question on them:

"Would you rather date Jennifer Aniston or be a millionaire?"

My boyfriend: "Millionaire."
My friend Michael: "Be a millionaire."
My friend Luke: "Be a millionaire."
My friend Ian: "Date Jennifer Aniston." (He's worked with her on films before. He's biased.)

What would you do?

I just received a press release from <a href="http://www.ProduceGuru.com"target="new">ProduceGuru.com on the best aphrodisiac fruits and veggies. From artichokes to asparagus, here's your recipe for love:

Apples — Thanks to Eve, apples have a long history as the fruit of temptation. In Europe in the Middle Ages, for example, it was said that a woman who wanted a particular man had to sleep with an apple under her arm and persuade the object of her desire to eat it the following day.

Artichokes — Simply eating an artichoke is a sensual experience, from stripping and dipping the leaves to slowly scraping the flesh off with your teeth. Catherine de Medici ate prodigious volumes of this vegetable and fed them regularly to her husband, King Henry IV, in part because of her belief in its aphrodisiac qualities.

Asparagus – Legend has it that asparagus “stirs up lust in man and woman,” as one long-ago herbal medicine proponent put it. One reason may be its shape. Another may be its nutrient profile, which includes ample doses of Vitamins A and C, calcium, iron and potassium. In any case, 19th century French bridegrooms were required to eat several helpings of asparagus because of its reputed love powers.

Avocado — This dark green fruit’s reputation as an aphrodisiac dates back to roughly 200 B.C., when it was reportedly used by Mayans and Aztecs to enhance sexual desirability. That reputation stands today, with over 60% of respondents in a 2000 survey by the California Avocado Commission saying they believe it is good for your love life. It is also a traditional remedy for erectile dysfunction.

Bananas — Aside from its obvious physical resemblance to a certain sex organ, the banana is rich in potassium and B vitamins necessary to the production of sex hormones. It also has sexual overtones in various cultures. People in some Central American countries drink the sap of the red banana as an aphrodisiac, for example, while Hindus consider the banana to be a sign of fertility.

Carrots — The ancient Greeks believed that this most prosaic of vegetables was a sexual stimulant. So, apparently, did the infamous Roman emperor Caligula, who is reputed to have fed the Roman Senate a banquet of carrot dishes in a plot to distract them from the business of state. And in Tehran in the 1870s, carrots stewed in sugar were used to increase male potency. The beta-carotene, antioxidants and minerals in carrots all contribute to their healthful properties.

Figs — As with bananas and carrots, figs have been regarded as aphrodisiacs in the popular imagination and even in erotic literature based on their appearance. They were reputed to be Cleopatra’s favorite food, are associated with fertility in many cultures (in part because they have up to 1,600 seeds per fruit), and have the highest mineral content of all fresh fruits.

Strawberries — They’re red, they’re juicy, they’re shaped like an edible heart, and they were the symbol of Venus — the mythological goddess of love. Put it together, and it’s easy to see why strawberries acquired the aphrodisiac label. The ancient Romans credited the fruit with whetting the sexual appetite, and the French used to serve newlyweds cold strawberry soup to encourage romantic honeymoons.

Have you ever felt frisky after eating any of these foods? What puts you in the mood?
